Al Khaleej Sugar, meaning 'The Gulf Sugar,' is the first sugar refinery established in the Arabian Gulf Region, founded in 1992 and headquartered in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE. Beginning production in July 1995 with an initial capacity of 2,400 MT, the company has grown remarkably to become the largest standalone sugar refinery in the world, achieving a production capability of more than 7,000 tons per day. The refinery is built using the latest technology and employs a carbonation process for raw sugar purification, operating to EEC-2 standards and controlled by a Distributed Control System (DCS) through a central control room.
Al Khaleej Sugar produces three types of refined sugar — Fine, Extra Fine, and Coarse Sugar — along with by-products including Sugar Syrup/Molasses and Liquid Sugar. Fine Sugar constitutes approximately 65% of total production, while Extra Fine Sugar serves specialty segments such as powdered drinks, confectionaries, and bakeries. The company also procures various grades of raw sugar for captive refining and re-exports raw sugar to meet buyer requirements. Their refinery infrastructure includes steam boilers, turbo alternators, and comprehensive raw and refined sugar handling and storage facilities.
Committed to quality, Al Khaleej Sugar adheres to a rigorous Quality Management System and strives to consistently exceed world-class benchmarks. The company places strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, transparency in investor relations, and corporate values centered on collaboration, integrity, continuous progression, and constant care. With its international projects division, Al Khaleej Sugar also offers expertise in setting up large-scale refineries globally, solidifying its position as a world leader in the sugar refining industry.
