The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) is Asia's largest halal trade exhibition and one of the most strategically important shows on the global halal calendar. Held annually at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur, MIHAS brings together buyers and sellers from over 60 countries across food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, finance, and lifestyle products.
The numbers tell the story: MIHAS 2024 recorded over 2,800 booths, 43,000 visitors, and participation from companies across 66 countries. Trade deals struck at MIHAS run into hundreds of millions of ringgit each year. For any halal brand looking to break into Southeast Asian and OIC markets, MIHAS is not optional — it is the gateway.
MIHAS 2026 is scheduled for September 2026 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. Applications for international exhibitors typically open 8-10 months before the event, making now the right time to start planning.
MIHAS is particularly valuable for:
If your target market includes Malaysia, Indonesia, the GCC, or any of the 57 OIC member countries, MIHAS should be on your trade show budget.
MIHAS operates a tiered pricing structure with separate rates for Malaysian and international exhibitors. All prices are set by MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation), the government agency that organises the show.
| Package | Size | Price (USD) | Price/sqm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shell Scheme (International) | 9 sqm (3m x 3m) | ~USD 3,690 | ~USD 410/sqm |
| Shell Scheme (International) | 12 sqm (4m x 3m) | ~USD 4,920 | ~USD 410/sqm |
| Raw Space (min 18 sqm) | Custom | Contact MIHAS | Contact MIHAS |
Note: USD rates are based on official MIHAS published pricing. Rates are confirmed approximately 12 months before the event when registration opens. Malaysian company rates are significantly lower (RM-denominated) — check the official MIHAS website for domestic pricing.
A standard MIHAS shell scheme booth includes:
Additional furniture, extra power points, additional shelving, AV equipment, and internet connectivity can be ordered from the official MIHAS furniture and services contractor at additional cost.
MIHAS applications are managed through the MIHAS Exhibitor Enquiry Form. Submit your enquiry as early as possible — typically 8-10 months before the event. Popular sectors and prime hall locations fill quickly.
After submitting your enquiry, the MIHAS Secretariat will contact you with available booth options, including hall location, facing, and surrounding exhibitors. You can request specific halls (e.g., if you want to be near buyers from specific countries) but placements are not guaranteed.
Once you accept the booth proposal, you'll receive an exhibitor agreement. A deposit (typically 50%) is required to secure your space. The balance is due approximately 60 days before the event. Full payment is required before you can access the exhibitor portal to submit fascia board details and order additional services.
The MIHAS exhibitor portal lets you manage your booth details, upload your company profile for the show directory, order furniture and services, register staff passes, and access the event manual. Allow 4-6 hours to complete all required submissions.
Build-up begins 1-2 days before the show opens. International exhibitors should book freight with a MIHAS-recommended forwarder — the show has a nominated official freight forwarder for handling inbound cargo, customs clearance, and on-floor delivery.
MIHAS runs a structured Hosted Buyer Programme, bringing serious importers and distributors from target markets to the show with travel support. Register for pre-scheduled B2B meetings through the MIHAS matchmaking system before the show. These meetings consistently generate the highest-quality leads — far better than walk-up traffic.
MIHAS segments its halls by product category: food and beverage occupies the largest footprint, while cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and financial services each have dedicated sections. Request placement in the hall that matches your product category — buyers navigate by sector.
The shell scheme gives you walls and carpet. What you do with it determines whether buyers stop. Bring your own graphic panels (they attach to shell scheme walls with velcro or clips), product samples, and branded collateral in Malay and English. Arabic is increasingly useful for the strong Gulf delegation that attends MIHAS.
MIHAS runs a concurrent conference series with sessions on halal certification, market entry, standards harmonisation, and sector-specific trends. Speaking or sponsoring a session dramatically raises your profile with serious industry buyers and decision-makers.
The most successful MIHAS exhibitors arrive 2-3 days early for pre-arranged factory visits, distributor meetings, and government courtesy calls. Malaysia's JAKIM, HDC, and MATRADE are all headquartered in KL — schedule meetings while you're there. Post-show follow-up within 48 hours is critical: send personalised messages, not generic blast emails.
MIHAS is one of four tier-1 global halal trade shows alongside Gulfood Dubai (world's largest food event, strong halal segment), the OIC Halal Expo Istanbul (strongest OIC/European coverage), and Saudi International Halal Expo (access to the GCC premium market).
For Southeast Asian distribution and OIC market access, MIHAS is unmatched. For Gulf market penetration, Gulfood is the priority. Ideally, budget for both.
Submit your exhibitor enquiry via the official MIHAS website. For more on costs and what's included, see the MIHAS event profile on HalalExpo.com. Browse the full halal events calendar to plan your trade show schedule around MIHAS 2026.
